I have to agree with Stephanie. My brother and sister in law have 2 of these and they are awful dogs. They strictly stick with my sister in law and no one else can go near her when you are in the house or they will bite you. They are also bad with kids. One of her dogs bit both of my boys on the same day and neither of the kids did anything to her except ask my sister in law something. Sorry to be so negative but I have had nothing but bad experiences with these breeds. I would also say go to a shelter and get one there are so many there looking for homes.

Pregnant mothers will do that. You can train your pup not to bite people - so that's not something that should make your decision for you.
Do you really want a chihuahua though? They're yappy. They have a tendency to not be friendly to strangers. There's a lot of great cuddly small breeds out there!

Chihuahuas are GREAT snugglers! They are also one people dogs. There is no excuse for the mother dog biting you, but they do get a little snappish with people they don't know. If you take steps to socialize your new little one and give it obedience training, it should be just fine. I have three chihuahuas and adore the breed. I also have two shih tzus. They are wonderful dogs too. Just higher maintenance with the long hair.
I think you'll be very happy with a chihuahua companion. They're sweet, smart, funny little snuggle bugs!

My mother has a chihuahua and she is a great snuggler. She is also however a barker and we have to be careful around her because she will nip at my daughter if she gets too close. I have seen other chi's though that let my daughter come right up to them to be petted. I think a lot of it has to do with the parents etc. If the mama is a barker/biter it is more possible that the babies will as well. Also do a lot of research online about the kind of dog you are wanting you can find out all kind of information that when you read about it will tell you whether the dog will be a fit with you or now. I personally would never have a chihuahua because I have seen more of them that do nip than that don't and I have kids.
