I am buying a pup thats cross long hair chihuahua with short hair chihuahua, can he be registered with KC?
**The KC in the UK do have 2 separate categories…long hair and smooth hair, but as they are both chihuahua I was unsure. So thank you to the people who gave constructive answers not bitchy answers x
Long and short haired Chihuahuas are both Chihuahuas and registered as simply Chihuahuas.
As long as both parents are AKC (or UKC depending where you live) register the pup can be as well.
No ,
They have to be completly PUREEEE BREEDD .
Why the hell does it matter? Are you of pure heritage? Are you royalty? Are you high class? Are you registered? Its a dog. Love it and care for it.
No — is the answer.
The KC is what we call our kennel club in the UK so I am assuming that NikD lives here.
there are joke registration documents here in uk too. Never called them "joke" ones before but that’s whay they are.
Here we have the DLRC — Dog Lovers Registration Certificate.
Unless the KC, and I assume you mean the one in Britain, is classing them as two separate breeds I don’t see why not.
No offense to the people about met but are all of you on something? a LONG haired chihuahua and a SHORT haired CHIHUAHUA are the SAME DAMN BREED. Any resulting offspring would still be a chihuahuas.
ETA: In the US have two option for legit all breed registries – AKC or UKC. If you don’t receive the registration application when you get the pup all you can get is an ILP number with either kennel club and is only useful if you plan to do dog sports other than conformation.
ETA: I would look and see how they are registered. Showing in different classes is on thing, but if they are both registered as just Chihuahua then I would assume a pup with a parent from one of each group would be registrable. When in doubt talk to the breeder.
You are getting a chihuahua that’s badly bred, that’s all, short hair and long hair is the same breed – chihuahua.
You can probably register a blind pig with the CKC if you mean Continental Kennel Club, but that’s worthless, CKC is the registry of byb and puppy mills.
The ONLY legit registry in the U.S. is the AKC and you can only register a dog with them if the sire and dam were also registered with them and the breeder gives you the form with all the info on the pup filled in. You send that in to the AKC and register your dog.
Sounds as if there is a lot of misinformation going on here, but long hairs come out of short hair litters, just a matter of genetics, so be aware of that.
If you want an AKC registry for your pup, make sure the sire and dam are AKC registered – simple as that.
As for the CKC, don’t even bother, you can’t show at AKC matches anyway, so just consider your pup a pet and be done with it.
If both parents are registered then I don’t think you will have any problems registering your pup with the KC.
