Long and short haired Chihuahuas are both Chihuahuas and registered as simply Chihuahuas.
As long as both parents are AKC (or UKC depending where you live) register the pup can be as well.

No --- is the answer.

The KC is what we call our kennel club in the UK so I am assuming that NikD lives here.

there are joke registration documents here in uk too. Never called them "joke" ones before but that's whay they are.

Here we have the DLRC -- Dog Lovers Registration Certificate.

Unless the KC, and I assume you mean the one in Britain, is classing them as two separate breeds I don't see why not.

No offense to the people about met but are all of you on something? a LONG haired chihuahua and a SHORT haired CHIHUAHUA are the SAME DAMN BREED. Any resulting offspring would still be a chihuahuas.

ETA: In the US have two option for legit all breed registries - AKC or UKC. If you don't receive the registration application when you get the pup all you can get is an ILP number with either kennel club and is only useful if you plan to do dog sports other than conformation.

ETA: I would look and see how they are registered. Showing in different classes is on thing, but if they are both registered as just Chihuahua then I would assume a pup with a parent from one of each group would be registrable. When in doubt talk to the breeder.
