Questions about feeding a chihuahua a raw food diet?
To be honest, I had never even heard about feeding dogs a raw diet before. But, since I asked a question about changing my chihuahua’s current food on here and several people seemed to support it, I’m curious now.
The whole thing seems a little odd to me; how is feeding a completely raw diet to a chihuahua viewed by vets; are they going to think I’m crazy when I take her for a check up and I say I feed her raw meat? Is it only suggested for larger dog breeds, or can my 8lb chihuahua benefit from it too? And most importantly: what are the negatives/risks? I have plenty of links already, I just want some opinions from those who have tried this on their dog.
Oh, and how do you all feel about Science Diet dog food instead? I’ve heard that it is really good for them, but I don’t really know for certain. Thanks!
Thank you all for the answers! I forgot to ask one thing, though: what about the bones? I thought you were never supposed to let your dog chew on chicken bones because they can splinter and cause digestive issues. How are they supposed to eat bones and avoid this? Thanks.
