How to train a chihuahua?

I recently got a female chihuahua thats about 4 months old. I want to teach her tricks but she doesn’t seem to listen. I try giving her treats but she sometimes doesn’t even want it.
i didn’t mean i give her free treats. Like I’d get her to sit once and give her a treat. After I try again she’d stop listening and not even want the treats anymore.

What to feed my puppy? She has hardly any teeth.?

I bought her from this one breeder last night. When I went to pick her up I asked her what she’s feeding her. She was feeding all her puppies and her adult dogs… Adult dog food.
So I went to the pet store with my pup and bought her a nutritious, puppy food, and one can of wet food. I got home and put some food in a bowl. She wasn’t hungry. This morning I offered it to her again and she put it in her mouth 4 or 5 times and tried chewing it but she kept spitting it out. She could not chew it.

So I looked at her teeth and she had the tiniest teeth! (still puppy teeth and i’m guessing some are still coming in.)
So I had to feed her wet food.
I don’t know how my puppy ate the ADULT dry food…

So my question is what do I feed my puppy? I don’t want to stick with only wet food cuz I don’t want her to have the runs, but dry food is too hard for her to chew.

She will be 4 months on the 20th of this month.
She is a Chihuahua
Thanks for all answers.
Correction: She has teeth. they are just very small.
I bought her: Blue Buffalo Puppy Food Formula

I am the owner of a chihuahua that's about to turn 2 years old and I need some training advice!?

I paid a small re-homing fee and brought this chihuahua into my home at the end of January 2010. The owners that I purchased him from informed me that the dog only lived with them for about 4 months and that he was originally purchased for mating their female (since the male they already had wouldn’t). Apparently, the older male only needed some competition because the female birthed puppies that looked identical to the older male and, while the younger male didn’t pose a problem initially, the older male constantly attacked him once the puppies arrived. Therefore, they sought to find another home for the dog and this is where I came into the picture.
When I met with the owner, he informed me of a couple of things… The dog had apparently been abused by the previous owners (according to him…it may have been while in their household) and was very timid. He stated that the dog wouldn’t even come near him during the first 2 weeks in their home. He also stated that the dog was malnourished when they got him but they were progressing a little (horrible diet of human scraps if I may add…bowels smelled terrible and incredibly bulky). He also stated that the dog was purebred and AKC registered although he had no papers. I wasn’t really concerned about that; I just wanted a chihuahua really badly and would see that he was restored to good health.
Well, the timidness was obvious from day 1. He wouldn’t come anywhere near me but would reluctantly come to my sister; he warmed up to me after a couple of weeks. He was extremely frightened of strangers… when introduced to my parents he defecated while in my mother’s arm and still urinates til this day when scolded… I definitely believe the story of abuse (although I’m not sure from which family)….He has a strict diet of dog food and raw vegetables and has gained impressive weight. He also is much more sociable although he still dislikes strangers; instead of cowering, he barks and occassionally bites.
With everything being said, I still have some issues…. I realize that his urinating during nervousness or scolding stems from fear; is there anyway to get that under control and to an eventual stop? and what are correct ways of properly socializing him?

How can i potty train a 4 month old Chihuahua?

Toilet training Puppy Chihuahua?

Our Chihuahua is now about 4 months old, i am at my wits end, if i step in another mess or puddle i am going to have a mental breakdown. He has his bed next to me by day (i work from home on my computer) and after hes had a long nap i take him outside and he usually does his mess, anytime its been a long time since he went i take him out, sometimes he will go out on his own (we have a puppy door) but if i am not watching he will go right behind me on the floor, in the kitchen, in the hallway, anywhere, it doesnt matter so long as i dont see (i can get enthralled in my work) i try to watch him like a hawk but hes like a ninja! If i see him get up and slink away i know what hes doing and i sneak after him to see, sure enough hes sniffing the floor in my house about to go!! he sees me notice him and he skulks outside and does it. how do you train a dog that is so snaeky on purpose! its like hes too lazy to go out! i cant take it anymore.. i had no idea a dog could pee like 25 times a day
oh i should add that he wont go in the same place twice (unlike most dogs from what ive read) which makes the litter box thing no good.

Would you tell someone to their face that they got took by buying a teacup puppy?

I know most of you, like me would try to tell someone contemplating purchasing a teacup that they were about to be fleeced. But, what if someone proudly showed you their brand new Teacup puppy, expecting ohs and ahs. What would you do?

This has happened to me twice in the past year. Once at petsmart. a lady behind me asked about my 8 month pom. I saw that she was holding a black pom pup a little larger than my 5 lb 8 month old. She then proceeded to tell me that mine was a regular (of course it is) and hers was "4 months old and a special teacup, and I won’t tell you how much I paid, but it was a lot"
All I could say was "it is very cute". I don’t think she would listen anyway. But I did have to bite my tongue
The other time was a coworker told me that they had just bought a teacup chihuahua. 3 months old and 4 lbs. I didn’t have the heart to tell them otherwise. I did however, give them advice on how to choose a good breeder the next time. (they had health problems with the puppy the first couple of weeks they owned it. Anemia from fleas)

What would you do?

chihuahua training…right or wrong?

Me and my bf have had our chihuahua for 3 months now (he’s 4 months old) and have been kennal training him for 2 months now. me and my bf are butting heads with our tactics for training the puppy. We are trying to train him to go to the washroom outside. He’s in the kennal while he sleeps, we wake up in the morning tie him up outside all day long, hes not allowed to walk around in the house without us watching him very closley, otherwise he’s in the kennal or on our laps. When he goes to the washroom in the house we put his face in it and spank him on the rump ( not near any organs or bones) until he yelps a little bit. Hes not allowed to walk around the yard or anywhere with us unless hes on a leash. Im not really agreeing with the dog not allowed to walk around on the ground freely or being in the kennal so much or being tied up all day ( he’s suppose to be with his momy =) ). DOes this sound ok for kennal training? Is he doing this right?? any ppointers? experienced answers only…

Litterbox training a chihuahua mix that wants to pee everywhere!?

She pees on a whim where ever she is at. I try to catch her as much as possible, but I can’t always see her, and when I do, she squats so quick I don’t have time to react. I just say Bitty on the mat! and she runs quick and gets on the pee pad and looks at me. We try to give her a treat when she pees onto the pad. She is 4 months old. Any help is appreciated.

Is this a good dog food to be feeding him? He eats it and seems to like it better but i have another dog and i feed him pedigree and my chihiuhua seems to wanna eat a little of his food to. But as of now i have a whole bag of Iams and Nutro natural health and he has been eating the nutro. Is this the right thing to be doing or have him on?
