Questions about dobermans?
I’m interested in buying a male doberman very soon… just have a couple of questions lol.
how big is their poop? and i’m talking about poo coming out from a full grown doberman.
i know you might find this question kinda odd… but ive been raising only chihuahuas for the past 10 years so im used to seeing waste the size of my middle finger lol
and ive heard they can be quite high jumpers.
the gate that surrounds our house and lawn is approximately 4 ft and 8 inches in height. Do you think this is sufficient enough? The doberman will be raised inside the house until about 6 months of age.
also… i own a 5 year old female chihuahua right now… how should i introduce them? i’m assuming a doberman pup (approx 8weeks) will be bigger than her? chihuahuas have a sort of "clannish" behavior…they seem to like their own breed better than others. i had no problem introducing her to other chihuahuas, but my little cousin brought over his baby rat terrier/chi and that didnt go too well…
and do they shed alot
New Yorker: honestly, don’t ever publicly judge someone and ask them if they are ready to make a commitment or not, especially if that person has owned dogs because that in my book is just rude.
you people have this stupid mentality that chihuahuas are rats that yap all day long and you can keep them cooped up in a small crowded apartment and not have them exercised. well your wrong. i go our running with my dog daily for an hour. i’ve raised 7 chihuahuas over the past 10 years and i have volunteered at an animal shelter and aquarium for 4 years encountering MANY animals of MANY sizes. i think i have a pretty good knowledge what dedication and commitment is whatever the size or breed the dog may be.

I adopted an abused chihuahua…how can I help to make her more comfy in her new home?
In april the love of my life was stolen from me. My 4 1/2 lb chihuahua "shakey" I have another chihuahua, his sister pepper. Pepper and I have missed him so much since he has been gone. I just started looking at pups again. Then I got a phone call from my mother-in-law saying a friend of hers had bought a dog out of an abusive home and told me she would give me it for free because she knows I’m a chihuahua lover and would take good care of her. She defiantly has been hit and yelled at allot. She is afraid to even eat. I had to hand toss piece by piece last night going "its okay baby its okay yummy mollies food. Its for mollie its okay" then I would repeat it to my chihuahua pepper so Mollie would see its okay. She is very sweet, but extremely shy and scared. I am doing my best to give her space, but let her know we love her and its okay to come near us and eat with us. Her and Pepper are exactly the same size 3lbs and have really taken a liking to each other. Which is great! I just want this poor baby to be happy. Do you have any tips to help make her feel better about her self and her new home? We are extremely affectionate with our animals. All of them are spoiled to death. Mollie has no self confidence in her self. Like I said shes even afraid to eat , like she usually gets yelled at for doing it. I have adopted a dog before, but not like Mollie. I just want to rehabilitate this young chi(8-10 months) to my best ability! I already love her so much. I believe god put her with me to help heal each others hearts! She is the first dog that I have fell for since my male chi was stolen in April.
thank you for saying you found your dog after 6 months…that put a light in my heart again. I will never stop looking for him until the day I die. He was and still is my world!
I have let her sleep in the bed with all of us since she came home. thats me my fiancee…pepper and our pug Reggina..and of course our new love Mollie : )

Is it bad for humans to feed their dogs table scraps?? I have a pup and my folks will be watching him?
So I have this pup……….she’s 9 weeks old. Right now we have her on wet dog food and give her a few treats now and then. Its difficult at times between getting her house trained, getting her used to a leash, and then the next problem will be getting her to switch from wet to dry dog food….(I bought halo, do dogs like that stuff??)
My parents have 4 children. Two of them are grown (im one of them, hehe) and thennnn they have two teenagers. The teenagers each have dogs, who are for the most part well behaved……..EXCEPT when it comes to food….my dad will be eating lunch (pretty much every day im sure this happens) and the dogs (mainly the huge fat Chihuahua, and once in a while the sweet lab that came from the pound) will just STARE AT MY DAD………so rudely…..and then my dad will throw scraps down……and the dog will RACE OVER TO EAT IT…….and the dogs will fight almost even if he throws two scraps down for them……..I think it is so tacky………(and im not trying to be rude with my capslock folks
Im just peeved….
So what are some good reasons I can tell my folks to PLEASE NOT give my pup any human food??? Right now, whenever we eat, she never bothers us for our human food, and I think thats the way it ought to be…but over at my parents………when the dogs stare..I feel like theres this poor starving being that will die if it doesnt eat, and ‘there I am’ just feasting away.
So far my reasons are:
1.) She’s on wet food, and it will already be hard enough (maybe) to get her on to dry food, I dont want any more complications.
2.) I think its rude when animals try to stare you down to get some food.
3.) Its unhealthy (I dont have back up ideas on this, it just seems plausible)
4.) I already have enough hardships trying to get her to not pooh and pee in the house, we are working on training her.
and what else????
I REALLY dont want to use the ol’…………"look at your dogs, I dont want mine to end up like them" routine… no one likes that when it comes to children/teenagers/ or animals
and PS: Yes, my parents will listen, they’re not the kind that need reasons, I just want to assure them that it should only be one way for my dog. I am the owner. And she shouldnt feed anything I dont want her to have. So far I told everyone in my family not feed her ANYTHING at all or I will be p*ssd off……….my dad wasnt there at the time, and then yesterday, he goes…"Oh do you feed her table scraps/left overs" and just replied that we dont ever have any, and that we’ve been eating light…
Grawwwrrr!!
Crazy Killer Chihuahua Attacks Bigger Dog
Filmed with my Vado HD cam from Creative. Being naturally territorial and protective, Chihuahuas can be easily provoked to attack, and are therefore generally unsuitable for homes with small children. The AKC describes the breed as, “A graceful, alert, swift-moving little dog with saucy expression, compact, and with terrier-like qualities of temperament.” The breed tends to be fiercely loyal to one particular owner, but may be attached to more. They do not always get along with other breeds, and tend to have a “clannish” nature, often preferring the companionship of other Chihuahuas over other dogs. These traits generally make them unsuitable for households with children that are not patient and calm. Chihuahuas crave attention, affection, exercise and being petted. They can be hyper, but eager to please. They have a reputation as a “yappy” dog, which can be resolved with proper training. Chihuahuas with proper breeding are not “yappy”; the AKC standard calls for “a terrier-like attitude. The Chihuahuas history is a puzzling one as there are many theories surrounding their true origin. The Chihuahua was used in sacred rituals as they were considered holy to pre-Columbian Indian nations. They were also popular pets among the upper class. The breed draws its name from the Mexican State of Chihuahua, where the first specimens of the breed were discovered. Some historians believe that the Chihuahua came from the island of Malta in the Mediterranean. Supporters of this theory …
