My trained chihuahua now pees anywhere!?
My 10 months old chihuahua was trained to pee on the pee pad, she has been doing very well until recently. She misses the pad, pees right on the border of the pad or just pees in really random places, including near her bed.
I always keep a clean pee pad, so I know that the issue is not that she feels the pad is dirty…
What’s wrong with her? I spayed her about a month and a half ago… What should I do?
Potty training a 4 year old chihuahua?
I recently adopted a 4 year old chihuahua from the local pound. The minute I leave my apartment, he makes a mess. I have tried crate training, but he just pees inside the crate, lays in the pee, and shakes it all over the place when I get home. Puppy pads aren’t working either. Any suggestions?
Are there some male dogs that are just impossible to house train?
Do you think that putting a cloth diaper on the dog is a solution to the problem, OR just a quick lazy fix to the problem. The pic is of a dog wearing a specially made diaper to prevent him from marking in the house.

I’ve been seeing MANY small male dogs that are over a year old that are being re-homed by their owners because of their problems marking in the house.
I’ve heard some say that house training and marking in the house are two diffrent things, and that its "OK" that he tries to mark everywhere because its his "territory" , and that he "is fully house trained" if he poops outside, and marking in the house doesn’t count. Is that BS to you?
I think that if a male puppy is strictly house broken while hes still young, he won’t mark in the house when hes older, and if an owner is too lazy with training a male pup, it’ll be too late after he matures, and it’ll be extremely hard to train it out of him.
Am I right?
To note where I came up with that idea, I was conned years ago into buying a dog at a yard sale for a deal of a steal, he was a very cute toy Poodle. He was very friendly and outgoing, but when I brought him home, he wouldn’t stop marking everywhere, and he’d hold it in and pee just a little to leave his scent on everything, no form of punishment would get it though his head that it wasn’t OK, and that peeing was for outside only. I was at my wits end and re-homed him to someone else that I remembered that wanted him at that same yard sale that I first got him from.
I had a male Chihuahua when I was a child that would never mark in the house, I thought that it was maybe because we were so strict with his training as he was a pup.
Is neutering after a "cure" to it???
potty training my chihuahua…its complicated (HELP!)?
when my dog java wants to pee he does this weird somersault/hand (paw?) stand. and so he ends up peeing all over himself. its disgusting. sometimes he does it right and raises only one of his legs but its gotten to the point where i literally have to give him a bath everyday. help me pleasse!
yall he’s doing this when i walk him. like i take him out for a walk and when he wants to pee he raises up both leg instead of one so he’s doing a kind of handstand making him pee on himself rather than the bush or mailbox or whatever he is trying to mark.
just to clarify.
How would you train a chihuahua that has already 1 and never been train and just ran in and out of the houses
Our dog id almost 1 she lived with my mom and she just ran in and out of the house to pee. But know we live in apartment that we have never had a dog at and she never real been disaplan befor so what do I do…..
Housetraining an Adult Chihuahua (Dog Will Only Pee on Walks)?
Hello, I have a two-year old rescue Chihuahua, a female, named Mija. She will pee in the yard in the morning when she wakes up and right before bed. Sometimes she’ll also go at noon. I take her for a short walk (ten minutes) at noon and a thirty minute walk in the evening. I’ve had her four months. She has only had one accident in the house.
I tried some of that spray, that housetraining aid, and she just ignored it. But, she will go in the yard in the morning and at night. Is it normal for her to only go about three times a day? She will poop once a day on a walk or in the yard if the weather is bad. She is feed Beneful, and sometimes dry food.
My question, is it normal for her to pee twice while only on a walk? She has let me know that she needs to go out by being restless. If I leave the house, she is kept in a crate. I used a crate to train her. How can I know for sure? Thanks
I don’t believe in pee pads because I believe they encourage dogs to urinate in the home. I have made sure she goes outside. She doesn’t drink much water, her food has a lot of water, but is hydrated enough to keep her nose wet and gums pink. She goes for a thirty minute walk and has a couple play sessions per day.
Chihuahua Potty Training?
I got a Chihuahua about a month ago. He is three months now. He is my first puppy. We are trying to train him to go to the bathroom outside and some days he does well but sometimes he will pee in the house a bunch of times. I know this takes a lot of patience. But does anyone have tips. Also when he pees in the house, how should i discipline him? I was doing the "stick his nose in his pee or poop" thing but i heard you shouldn’t do that for some reason.
what is the best way to potty train a chihuahua who is 2 years old with bad habits?
my dog has been minorly trained. She knows where she has to pee but refuses to pee there(outside). Also I cant get her to signal me in any way when she needs to pee. Shes bad at eating so i cant afford to give her times to eat because I
‘m scared she mightstarve since she is horribly stubborn.
How to leash train my chihuahua puppy?
Ok, here’s the deal. My chihuahua is 5 months old, we got him when he was 3 months old. He’s had no training at all. I keep him in a really big rabbit cage so that he can pee and poop and it’ll be go right thru. I’m going to housebreak him by using the puppy pads (can’t do it outside because his mommy is in a wheelchair and can’t go outside in the grass every hr and his daddy (me) works.) But I’d still like to leash train him, but he doesn’t walk with me on the leash..he jumps and hops and tries to run away from the leash (that’s hooked onto him) it’s a retractable leash because if it’s a reg leash he’ll just stop lay down and chew on it. I don’t let him have free reigh of the apt because he chews on everything (cords plugs fanstands you name it) so he has a little play pen. He just needs to be trained to just not be so rampunctious. But for now I just need to know how to leash train this little teething ChiChi. Thanks!
Is it bad for humans to feed their dogs table scraps?? I have a pup and my folks will be watching him?
So I have this pup……….she’s 9 weeks old. Right now we have her on wet dog food and give her a few treats now and then. Its difficult at times between getting her house trained, getting her used to a leash, and then the next problem will be getting her to switch from wet to dry dog food….(I bought halo, do dogs like that stuff??)
My parents have 4 children. Two of them are grown (im one of them, hehe) and thennnn they have two teenagers. The teenagers each have dogs, who are for the most part well behaved……..EXCEPT when it comes to food….my dad will be eating lunch (pretty much every day im sure this happens) and the dogs (mainly the huge fat Chihuahua, and once in a while the sweet lab that came from the pound) will just STARE AT MY DAD………so rudely…..and then my dad will throw scraps down……and the dog will RACE OVER TO EAT IT…….and the dogs will fight almost even if he throws two scraps down for them……..I think it is so tacky………(and im not trying to be rude with my capslock folks
Im just peeved….
So what are some good reasons I can tell my folks to PLEASE NOT give my pup any human food??? Right now, whenever we eat, she never bothers us for our human food, and I think thats the way it ought to be…but over at my parents………when the dogs stare..I feel like theres this poor starving being that will die if it doesnt eat, and ‘there I am’ just feasting away.
So far my reasons are:
1.) She’s on wet food, and it will already be hard enough (maybe) to get her on to dry food, I dont want any more complications.
2.) I think its rude when animals try to stare you down to get some food.
3.) Its unhealthy (I dont have back up ideas on this, it just seems plausible)
4.) I already have enough hardships trying to get her to not pooh and pee in the house, we are working on training her.
and what else????
I REALLY dont want to use the ol’…………"look at your dogs, I dont want mine to end up like them" routine… no one likes that when it comes to children/teenagers/ or animals
and PS: Yes, my parents will listen, they’re not the kind that need reasons, I just want to assure them that it should only be one way for my dog. I am the owner. And she shouldnt feed anything I dont want her to have. So far I told everyone in my family not feed her ANYTHING at all or I will be p*ssd off……….my dad wasnt there at the time, and then yesterday, he goes…"Oh do you feed her table scraps/left overs" and just replied that we dont ever have any, and that we’ve been eating light…
Grawwwrrr!!
